The Flying Puppy
Cutter may have had a late start but he is more than making up for it now!!! He has "Flippy" fun on the golf course! He clears 4 feet on average when he jumps - that would be a measurement from the ground to the bottom of his feet!!!
Coach and athlete discussing strategy.

Swimming in the Ocean
Cutter loves the water and swims for his ball - he is a little slow (no webbing in his feet!). He does get a bit frustrated with the sand/ball situation as you can hear on the video. Sand was flying everywhere!

Back to San Diego America's Finest City
We are leaving tomorrow morning for a couple of weeks in San Diego. It will be another new adventure for Cutter to be on the boat... We will be going to a BB King concert on Monday night!!! I can hardly wait! Seeing him in concert has always been one of my wishes.

Snow still...
Summer has taken a detour from here so far this year! Snow on the mountain this week and cold rainy for the rest of the area. Kinda feels like Seattle - YUCK!!
Cutter is trying my training skills every hour. It is a dang good thing puppies are cute or they would never make it to dog! It is harder being so confined to the house because of the weather.

Meet Cutter
Cutter is a 6 month old Border Collie. We brought him home June 1st and he has already won our hearts. His life has been very sheltered and so a huge amount of new things were introduced into his little world yesterday. Cutter had to go to the store and meet "Aunt Lynne" and learn about taking treats from your hand. His name was Banjo but he would not respond to it. Last night Craig came up with a bunch of nautical names and we tried Cutter and now he comes when we call his new name- less than 12 hours later!

Not Sure Why ...
We arrived home in pouring rain on Tuesday and I am not sure why we came home. It has snowed and the wind has blown and I am freezing! I got a very short window to work outside in a flower bed yesterday for about an hour. I did put out the bird feeders and have decided the following:
Magpies are killers - Chickadees are fearless - Finches are timid- Robins are tough.
Final note - I WANT TO GO BACK TO SAN DIEGO!!!!!

We Just Left
After being home and having it snow all but 2 days out of 11 and there is still over 2 feet of snow in our yard - we left! We loaded the car and drove back to San Diego!!!! We are staying on the boat and enjoying sunshine, flowers, trees, boats, water, friends and every good thing San Diego has to offer!!!

Amber Dayn and Drew
Dayn is the diagnostic team foreman now in the BMW Austin TX dealership!
Amber is in school and will graduate in December as an OR Technician.
Drew is just a wonderful 4 year old who keeps mommy busy!
Hail in San Diego!
Nope that isn't a typo. We went to the Padres vs Dodgers game last night and we were rained out in the second inning! Walking back to the parking garage we go over the new bridge (21 million dollar bridge!) it was seriously raining and hail!! Another man walking with us didn't know what those little white balls on the bridge were!!!!!! The game resumed about 9pm (we watched from the comfort of the sofa) and was promptly rained out again. We will get to see the rest of that game and the regularly scheduled one for tonight but, forecast is - rain...

Hello, my name is
and I am a coffee-holic, caffeine addict!! Had to have a cup before I went for my walk this afternoon and 1 mile out guess what else wanted out! Good grief. My girls call it "crack in a cup". Yup, sure is. I love it and those who have had the pleasure of my company first thing in the morning can attest to my being totally unable to even communicate without it. Craig still asks me questions right away in the morning knowing full well I can not form letters let alone a coherent sentence before the first cup!! All that said... I love Starbucks!

Opening Day in San Diego
We went to the opening game for the Padres here in San Diego. First thing - they won over San Fransisco giants! Padres are 3-1 now. The opening ceremonies were wonderful. The game was great fun! The sun shined upon our sweaty little heads and we are going to another game tomorrow! Season tickets are nice (one of the reasons we extended our stay by two weeks). I saw alot of hot dogs being consumed with beer chasers and some folks won't be able to talk tomorrow for all the yelling and cheering they did today! Great day today!

1,210 Miles
Yup, he did it and then some by the 30th of March no less! I suggested another 200 before we leave on the 15th of April - the "look" was aimed at me once again......
Craig figured out that he will be able to wear shorts for 11 months and has only had to wear "big boy" pants twice since being here and that was because of where we were dining those evenings.

Snow News and "Stuff"
Craig and I both talked with family at home in Big Sky and got the snow reports. Sorry, but I am sooo glad we are missing it!!! I know it is melting shortly after it falls but that just becomes mud season for another two months.
We have been talking about bringing another Border Collie into our lives. We have decided that the breed is so smart and quick to learn and we just can't see ourselves with any other kind of dog. We are talking about a puppy (good thing they are quick learners) because Craig has not had the "fun" of a Border Collie puppy and we need to introduce the boat life, traveling and other life style demands that are harder on older dogs adapt to. So we will look when we get home for a new addition to our lives. I hope I am up to potty training, crate training and short nights.... May have to borrow another dog for a week to help with some of those training needs because they learn so well from the puppy see - puppy do type of situation.

One thousand Plus
Craig hit his 1,000 mile mark plus 20 more miles today!!! Amazing determination and fortitude. So, again, I suggested another mileage goal for him (easy for me to say). I think he can hit 1,200 miles - he is "thinking" about it.

Rider Update
Craig hit 902 miles yesterday. We extended our stay two more weeks and I suggested he could extend his goal to 1,200 miles. I got the "look".

Sounds of Freedom
Last month the navy base here had a huge celebration. It was the 100 years of aviation celebration. The traffic coming onto the island was backed up the 5 for miles!! We left the island and spent the day at the marina to clean and enjoy the boat. We actually had a great spot to see the planes of all vintages, sizes, formations and noise level fly over us. On the island the locals refer to the few seconds of extremely loud noise that occurs several times a day as the aircraft flies over as the "Sounds of Freedom". We really like that term and really don't mind the noise.
Today we spent on Point Loma watching the activity on the bay and the aircraft flying from the Naval base. Lots of folks were checking on their boats. No damage where we are. Just really wacked tidal moves. High tide and low tide occurred in rotation every 20 to 30 minutes over the course of 5 hours!!!

Dinner Oops
We tried Tika Masala (from a Jar) tonight.... We tried to be fair but Lynne and Jenny have spoiled us. In an effort to cut carbs down we didn't even have Naan... Big mistake all the way around. (Hope my spelling of the food isn't too bad.) So, the moral of the story is - if you have ever had this wonderful dish crafted by Lynne or Jenny DO NOT try it in the jar you will be sadly disappointed. Naan is a must have no matter what. I missed you today Jenny and Lynne!!!!
"Dirt Bag" Bike Rider
The descriptive term is Craig's. Everyone else apparently wears the biker uniform that he sees out riding. Can you imagine Craig wearing the biker's uniform?? As he tells me when I suggest it - " I don't think so". (Yes, I cleaned that quote up). He is at 800 miles as of this morning. Then he went to the "office". We are having the teak re-done and he is doing the general contractor check up. :) I stayed home and cleaned house as our friends from Las Vegas will be here for the weekend.

Bike Riding
Craig has ridden his bike 738 miles so far (since 12/2/10). He plans on getting 1,000 miles on his bike in the 4 months we will have been here. Can anybody say "Reichstetter"!!!! I would say he is riding his butt off - but, he has none to ride off! The man's determination is amazing.

Craig's Office
Point Loma park is a good place to call your office! Our little boat being "slung" into the water. I was not there for that - it makes me ill to just see the picture! Tomorrow we will be moving it to the Bay Club Marina (home for the boat). The boat yard did a great job of restoring and refinishing!

Craig's New Office
The sail boat arrived in San Diego from Anacortes last week and is in the boat yard getting the bottom re-done and the teak is getting varnished. It was supposed to be a sail boat that we could trailer to a destination and re-rig and sail. Well, it takes a professional rigging crew hours to take down and then reassemble the mast and lines! No more- it is being rigged permanently! Craig is there everyday to "supervise" the progress of the painting, staining and rigging! I tease him that he is going to the office when he heads out for the boat yard. I think that is the only "office" he likes! We are so excited to have "her" here to enjoy!
